Mindless Ramblings...
It's been a long time my friends... a very long time. I have been much too wrapped up in life and shit to be posting to the page, but I apologize! I wish I had posted more.
However, I am back. I am still interested in doing photo-shoots and I will post details in the near future once I figure my shit out.
Life has been hectic, as it has for many of you I'm sure.
There's a new blog post and two new recipes posted for now. More recipes will be posted in the near future as well as the possibility of another story. Details to come!
I promise to post more in the near future. Possibly a new book. For sure more photos and well whatever else I can think of.
Thanks for sticking it out!
ADDITION!! OK, as for the story, it may happen but I am looking for characters. If you feel you can go with by the guidelines below... send me an email through my contact me link or message me on FB under Deecan Frost. Here are the deets:
So, I was thinking of writing another story (probably a short story) or maybe even a novel. It is a post-apocalyptic story line. I am looking for characters. I cannot guarantee your admission into the story, but if you're interested, message me your details. Here's what I need:
a) Your first name (and your last privately for credits/dedications)
b) what you would like to be called (this may or may not happen... if your first name fits, that's what will go in the story)
c) your profile (height, weight, complexion, hair color, what your nails look like, what your make-up is like, how you style your hair, what type of clothes you wear, what type of music you listen to, what type of personality you have... or if you have disabilities... I want to know YOU!
d) what you think you could accomplish in a post-apocalyptic world as a person, whether that be a provider, a hunter, a guardian, etc.... even skills in computer's/computer science...
Let me know if you may be interested in being a character and your deets via Messenger!!

124 days... and counting
It's been 124 days!! But maybe I shouldn't start here. Let's rewind to Day 1....
.......
...........
...............
So let's begin with a bit of background first. On Day 1, I was unemployed and drinking heavily each day and I mean heavily.... easily putting away 12-18 beers a day, sometimes in as little as 6-7 hours. I was downing ice cold beers in 10-20 minutes. That's roughly three beers an hour on average. I was getting up late in the day, generally around 3-3:30pm, everyday, having two coffee's then cracking my first beer of the day while calculating how much more beer I need to order that day so my wife and I wouldn't run out. My schedule had been messed up for so long because of my prior jobs having very late ending shifts (I'm a cook, that should explain it). I'd have to unwind when I got home, and it became a habit to stay up all night. Partially to see my wife when she left for work at 4am, but also because I am a total nighthawk and I liked staying up until 7 or 8am, then heading to bed until I felt like not sleeping anymore.
This particular day however, I could not sleep in, and it happened to be a Monday. I had a Doctor's appointment at 11am and needed to be up and sober for it. I had my last drink around 10pm the night before and did not end up drinking a whole lot that day, somewhere around 8 or 9. So I went to my appointment. I had been going to these appointments since the beginning of December. Once a month. It started because I wanted to address my Depression and Anxiety. It was getting worse and seriously dragging me down. Sucking away my will to live. So on this particular cold February day, I went to my monthly follow-up. My Doctor put me on anti-depressants and sleeping pills. I had been taking them since I first seen my Doc back in December. At these appointments we would discuss my drinking and he would always offer community programs and counselling information, just in case I decided I wanted to try these things. After asking me how much I was consuming daily recently, he warned me of possible withdrawal symptoms because I told him I couldn't drink for a week as I had no money left to purchase any. He ordered some blood tests and sent me on my way.
So, not being afraid of needles and wanting to get it all over with, I visited the lovely ladies downstairs and as I've done many times in the past, I gave my vital life-blood as a sacrifice to the Goddesses of Life and went about my day. It was uneventful. I didn't do much but sit around watching TV.
The fun started just before 8pm. My wife was cleaning upstairs and I was cooking supper. Baked homemade Herb and Garlic Chicken Breasts. They smelt amazing as they were baking away in the oven. I got up for some water from the fridge and immediately had rainbow coloured stars in my eyes (sort of like when you're blinded temporarily by a camera flash). I blinked a few times and rubbed my eyes, it wouldn't go away. I began boiling a pot for our rice side-kick and waited until I could turn it down and simmer. I went back to the living room and sat back down, trying to get the damn rainbow stars to go away, while I attempted to watch TV.
The show ended and I opened the guide to find something new to watch. At this point, my ears started ringing slightly and everything began to sound sort of, muffled. Like when you're wearing earplugs. By now, I bet you're thinking I should be getting worried... ya, not me (idiot...). I've had ringing ears before and stars in the eyes (although the stars were never this colorful and pretty), so I didn't think a whole lot about it, I just wanted it to stop. Eventually the Satellite Gods shone their universal light on a show and I tuned to it (don't bother asking me what it was, I can't remember for the life of me..). With the rainbow stars still sort of blinding me, my ears ringing with a high-pitched sound that seemed like it was echoing in my head and my ears feeling like they were full of cotton, making my environment sound far away (I should mention, I have three dogs who are in no way on this green earth, quiet, by any means), I got up to go to the kitchen and check on dinner. Sliding the gate out of the way (to keep the dogs out, they like to scrounge) and taking a step forward (the last thing I remember), and then....

..... BANG!! .....
......
.........
..... BANG!! .....
Next thing I remember is sitting on the couch with my wife, completely out of it, and seeing two paramedics coming through my front door, gurney and all. My wife told me I had a seizure. She began to help me up, as I stood I wobbled and almost ended up head first over our solid pine coffee table (which really wouldn't have been fun...) The first paramedic reached out to steady me and guided me to the gurney. They helped me onto the gurney, put some blankets over me, strapped me down and wheeled me out to the ambulance. My wife following with a few of my things (jacket, shoes, phone, etc.) and me seeing my parents pulling up in front of the ambulance. My wife jumped in with them as the ambulance headed to the hospital. The ride is short (literally 3 minutes from my house. 5 max), but it felt longer to me. They hooked up a bunch of monitors all over my body and set up an IV needle for when I got to the hospital.
The hospital took blood (yup, the second time that day, but more) they put me on an IV, ran a cat-scan. They determined it was a seizure caused by withdrawal. Funny, my Doctor mentioned seizure's just that morning, not funny. They wanted to keep me. So I half slept on the shitty bed in the ER. Early in the morning I was brought some breakfast and then informed I would be moved up to the 4th floor. Mental Health Ward. I was told it was the only bed available.
As I was wheeled down the hall towards a staff only elevator, I began to wonder what might be in store.
We arrived on the 4th floor, exited the elevator and then headed down the hall stopping in front of two large doors. The nurse scanned us in and wheeled me down the hall. Contrary to what you may think, the psych ward is actually one of the best places to stay in the hospital. I glanced at my surroundings as she wheeled me towards the nurses station. After registering I was taken to my room. It resembled something you might find in a dorm. There was a washroom just inside the door and then two beds, two desks and two shelving units to store your things.
